The planning application 25/1815/FUL is open for public comments. The Bushey Forum encourages everyone to comment on applications. There are some that wish to object to this development, however it is ineffective to just say I don’t like it or to only comment on social media.

Comments should be made through the Planning Portal or by emailing consult.planning@hertsmere.gov.uk or in writing to the Planning Department, Civic offices, Elstree Way, Borehamwood, Herts, WD6 1WA

Here are some applicable objections to this particular development from a former chair of the HBC Planning Committee:

1. 28 homes will generate cars onto Whomsoever Lane and the access which is situated on the BLIND BEND on Merry Hill Road.
2. This application cannot be recommended for approval as it would cause a complete danger to this part of the road, to all cars and pedestrians. Hertfordshire County Council accepted the danger of the Blind Bend many years ago by erecting 15mph signs on both sides of the BLIND BEND to assist cars to drive slowly and not add to the danger.
3. There are 4 schools in the area and Merry Hill Road is well used by children walking to and from School, they also use Whomsoever Lane. Access for cars from 28 homes would be an immediate danger.
4 .St Margaret’s School redirected the coaches bringing children to and from the school as the BLIND BEND is too dangerous to negotiate.
5. There has NEVER been access for cars onto Whomsoever Lane because of the dangers and this must remain this way.
6. There is a pylon and a large Mast in the immediate vicinity not an Environmentally sound area for homes. The Mast emits a humming noise.
7. Immediately opposite the access there is Grade 2 Listed home of great value to the area and street scene.
5. The site for 28 homes is a Green Belt site and has not previously been developed.
